Short answer: Artificial intelligence could influence silver through demand for electronics and data-center equipment. Its connection to gold is less direct: AI-driven changes to growth, inflation, interest rates and investor sentiment may affect gold, but they do not point to one predictable price outcome. Neither metal’s price can be explained by AI alone.

Why AI may matter more directly to silver

Silver conducts electricity efficiently and is used in a range of electrical and electronic components. Expansion of AI computing and its supporting infrastructure can increase demand for some of those components. That is a potential source of industrial silver demand, not a measurement of how many ounces each new data center will consume. The Silver Institute’s technology report discusses AI and data centers as possible longer-term demand drivers while acknowledging that precise silver-loading data are limited.

Other industries can move in the opposite direction. The Silver Institute’s World Silver Survey 2026 reports that global industrial silver demand fell in 2025 even though AI-related electronics and data-center use grew. Reduced silver use per solar cell and substitution in photovoltaic manufacturing were important offsets. This is why “more AI” does not automatically mean “higher silver prices.”

Gold’s AI connection is mainly indirect

Gold is also used in some electronics, but that does not establish AI hardware as a dominant driver of the gold market. A more useful question is how AI changes the wider economy. If productivity, inflation expectations, real interest rates or the U.S. dollar change, investors may reassess gold. The World Gold Council identifies economic growth, risk and uncertainty, the opportunity cost of holding gold, and market momentum as distinct influences. They can offset one another.

What would make an AI headline meaningful?

Does AI guarantee a rise in precious-metals prices?

No. AI can add demand in one segment while efficiency improvements or weakness elsewhere reduce demand. A metal’s market price also reflects supply, investment activity, currency movements and expectations. It is safer to treat AI as one factor to investigate than as a price forecast.
